So over the last few days I have been sowing my chilli seeds, this is the first time I have ever grown anything since school (cress!) so hopefully I have been doing everything right, though I have been experimenting a little with the germination process, here is what I have done.
1. I took a plastic tub which my mixed herbs came in, put a layer of tinfoil in it and then some clingfilm over that, then some moist brown paper, added the compost and sowed my chilli seeds, then I popped the tub on top of the boiler, I guess it's a poor mans heatmat! The tinfoil is used to draw heat up evenly to the soil so the chilli seeds can keep nice and snug while retaining heat when the boiler is off. Oh, I popped the tub in a plastic sleeve and put some holes in it.
Heat: 34-35c
2. I have an empty Pampers wipe's box which I laid a black bin liner in and then on top of that I laid the inside of a cooler bag which I got from Aldi, the material if a soft silver material which should hopefully help the seeds snug inside the airing cupboard, I have put a plastic bag over the box and popped some holes in the top so the chilli seeds can get air. Note that the plastic bag isn't from a shop it's what some of my buggy accessories came in if you were wondering.
Heat: 23-24c
So now is the waiting game, let's see how many of these lovelies actually pop up!
